Essential Guide: Extended Exhaust Pipe Connection for Kaleido Sniper Roasters

Mar 24, 2026

At Kaleido Roasters, we are committed to providing innovative and safe roasting solutions. To help you get the most out of your Kaleido Sniper roaster while ensuring its longevity and safety, we have prepared this guide on the proper installation of an extended exhaust pipe.

If you plan to modify or install an externally extended exhaust pipe on your Kaleido Sniper roaster, it is crucial to follow the specific guidelines below. Improper installation can lead to equipment damage and void your warranty.

The Golden Rule: Do Not Create an Airtight Seal

The most important rule to remember is that the external exhaust pipe must NOT be tightly connected to the roaster’s original exhaust outlet.

Unlike commercial smoke exhaust systems designed for continuous high-volume airflow, the Kaleido Sniper operates with a specific airflow dynamic. During the roasting process, the coffee beans release significant amounts of water vapor (steam) along with smoke.

If the external pipe is connected too tightly, the following issues can occur:

1. Insufficient Discharge: The water vapor cannot be expelled quickly enough through the extended pipe.

2. Condensation: As the hot, moisture-laden vapor travels through the pipe and encounters cooler ambient temperatures, it condenses into small water droplets.

3. Backflow: Because there is no gap for pressure relief or drainage, these condensed droplets flow back along the path of least resistance—directly into the machine.

4. Component Damage: If water enters the interior of the roaster, it can reach the mainboard or power board, leading to short circuits, corrosion, and permanent electronic failure.

Proper Installation Specifications

To prevent these risks, please adhere to the following technical specifications when installing your extended exhaust pipe:

1. Maintain a Minimum Gap

Requirement: Ensure a gap of at least 40 mm between the external exhaust pipe and the machine’s original exhaust pipe.

Purpose: This gap allows steam and pressure to escape naturally and prevents condensation from wicking back into the machine. It acts as a pressure release and drainage break.

2. Loose Connection Only

The external pipe must be loosely connected. Do not use clamps, tape, or sealants to create a tight seal between the external pipe and the roaster’s outlet.

A loose fit allows for proper airflow and prevents the buildup of back-pressure that forces moisture into the electronics.

3. Material Selection

Choose materials that are heat-resistant and durable. Recommended materials include:

  · PVC or PVE (heat-rated)
  · Aluminum alloy
  · Carbon alloy
  · Stainless steel
  · PP (polypropylene)

Note: Ensure any rubber or silicone adapters used are explicitly rated for high temperatures.

4. Diameter Considerations

The external exhaust pipe may be slightly larger than the machine’s original pipe.

If an adapter is needed, use a flared adapter (made of heat-resistant rubber or silicone) rather than a reducing coupler that creates a tight seal.

Enhancing Performance

If you require improved exhaust performance, we recommend the following:

External Fan: Connect the external exhaust pipe to an auxiliary fan to actively draw smoke away.

Smoke Filter: For indoor use, connecting the pipe to a smoke filtration system can help manage odor and particulate matter.

Important: When using external fans or filters, ensure that the system does not create negative pressure that pulls moisture back toward the machine. The 40 mm gap should remain in place regardless of additional equipment.

Final Note

Modifying your Kaleido Sniper roaster with an extended exhaust pipe can significantly improve your roasting environment when done correctly. However, the integrity of your machine’s electronics depends on proper installation.
